BMW has been one the best out of the German car brands especially when it comes to driving pleasure. Its M series is known to be one of the best sports cars in their segment. M cars have a long history dated as old as 1972. Since then it's been roaring in its segment. This year BMW has given India's favourite sports car, the M5 F90 an update. Let's see what's new in the 2020 M5.

EXTERIOR




     On the front, it gets the new headlights featuring BMW's Dynamic Laser Matrix with L-shape DRLs which are sleeker and aggressive than before. It gets a one-piece black kidney grille along with a re-designed bumper. It gets larger intakes. All these changes make the car more truculent than ever. The sides have minimal changes. It has typical M5 look. It gets 20-inch wheels as standard. The taillights get a condensed and 3D look. The bumper now houses dual round exhausts on each end and they sound spectacular.

INTERIOR



     The interior is more intimidating than before. It gets the typical BMW dashboard with the M treatment all over it. There is also a new design for the digital instrument cluster for the M mode. The infotainment system is a larger 12.3-inch unit and gets the latest I-Drive system from BMW. 



     It gets the M model from the M8 which allow the driver to shift from Road mode to Track mode. In the Track mode, the safety equipment turns down to its least intervention mode while some system like Collision Warning, etc. gets disabled. It gets M seats with glowing M logo on the seats. It gets the option to change from 4WD to 2WD rear-wheel drive for those stunning drifts and doughnuts.

ENGINE



     The M5 gets the same engine as before with identical power and torque figures. It is powered by a 4.4 L twin-turbo V8 petrol engine which churns out 600hp of power @6000 pm and 750 Nm  of torque @1800-5700 rpm in its normal guise while the competition variant gets 625hp and the torque band is wider @1800-5860 rpm. 0 to 100 kmph comes at just 3.3 sec (claimed) which is insanely fast for a 4-door car. Top speed is limited to 250 kmph but it can do up to 304 kmph with the optional M Driver's package. The new M5 gets a revised chassis with its shock absorbers directly from the M8 Coupe. This makes the driving more comfortable on bad roads. It gets the optional carbon-ceramic brakes with coloured brake callipers. The ARAI specified mileage is 9.8kmpl and it has a fuel carrying capacity of 68 L.

PRICE 

    The present generation M5 which is on sale in India costs rupees 1.95 crores, ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The next-gen M5 is likely to come to India somewhere in the next year. Expect the prices to increase as well.
